Effective immediately, Tennessee Technology Solutions is discontinuing sales of all Motorola "scanner radios."
This cancellation does NOT impact sales of new and used Motorola commercial, professional, consumer, and retail levels of two-way radios and equipment, and only pertains to the following products:
We greatly appreciate and value the many customers and referrals we have received for these products, and it has and remains our most popular product lineup we've ever offered. We are glad that we've been able to help local residents stay informed on what's going on in their neighborhood in real time at an affordable cost.
Why have these products been discontinued?
We have made the decision to discontinue these products as more agencies utilizing the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN) and Tennessee Valley Radio System (TVRS) are switching to TDMA, also known as "Phase Two." The scanner radios are not TDMA or Phase Two capable, and will eventually stop receiving radio traffic as agencies upgrade their fleets of radios.
We want our customers to enjoy the products we sell for many years, and we feel it is ethical to discontinue sales of these products pre-emptively rather than risk selling customers a product that may stop working as desired in the near future. We are not able to predict and nor are we informed when agencies upgrade their radios as those decisions are made at the agency/local government level and not generally publicized.
We will permit limit special orders for these scanner radios for individuals outside of Tennessee, or if the customer elects to accept the condition that the scanner may stop receiving radio traffic after the purchase.
